The Session Initiation Protocol: Internet-Centric Signaling
نویسنده
چکیده
The Session Initiation Protocol provides advanced signaling and control functionality for a wide variety of multimedia services. SIP can efficiently and scalably locate resources based on a location-independent name and then negotiate session characteristics. It can find use in applications ranging from Internet telephony and conferencing to instant messaging, event notification, and the control of networked devices. We summarize the main protocol features and describe a range of extensions currently being discussed within the Internet Engineering Task Force.

Session Initiation Protocol Attacks and Challenges
In recent years, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) has become widely used in current internet protocols. It is a text-based protocol much like Hyper Text Transport Protocol (HTTP) and Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP). SIP is a strong enough signaling protocol on the internet for establishing, maintaining, and terminating session. In this paper the areas of security and attacks in SIP are d...
متن کاملSIP: Session Initiation Protocol
The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an application-layer control (signaling) protocol for creating, modifying and terminating sessions with one or more participants. These sessions include Internet multimedia conferences, Internet telephone calls and multimedia distribution. Members in a session can communicate via multicast or via a mesh of unicast relations, or a combination of these. SI...

Session mobility is the transfer of media of an ongoing communication session from one device to another. This document describes the basic approaches and shows the signaling and media flow examples for providing this service using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Service discovery is essential to locate targets for session transfer Shacham, et al. Expires May 21, 2008 [Page 1] Internet-D...
متن کاملWeakness in a Mutual Authentication Scheme for Session Initiation Protocol using Elliptic Curve Cryptography
The session initiation protocol (SIP) is a powerful signaling protocol that controls communication on the Internet, establishing, maintaining, and terminating the sessions. The services that are enabled by SIP are equally applicable in the world of mobile and ubiquitous computing. In 2009, Tsai proposed an authenticated key agreement scheme as an enhancement to SIP. Very recently, Arshad et al....
